P2110 - THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM FORCED LIMITED RPM
Description of DTC code P2110
The P2110 OBDII fault code P2110 indicates to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that a malfunction has been detected in the vehicle. It limits the work of the Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) system.
This condition is known as activating the vehicle's fail-safe mode or limp mode. Activating this mode prevents major engine problems by preventing the engine from accelerating until the malfunction is corrected.
The PCM sets this code to force the TAC system to limit the engine RPM. Although this code may specifically indicate a TAC system malfunction, it may be triggered by other problems.
Symptoms of fault code P2110
- The Check Engine light illuminates.
- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) light ON.
- The motor does not start.
- Transmission changes are not possible.
- Other codes stored.
Causes of OBD2 P2110
The reasons why the P2110 OBD2 trouble code is set are:
- An overheating of the motor.
- There could be refrigerant leaks.
- The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) sensor may be faulty.
- Probably the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is damaged.
- Automatic transmission problems.
- System voltages may be out of range.
Possible solutions of the DTC code P2110
Steps to solve the P2110 OBDII diagnostic code:
- Check the Technical Service Bulletins (TSB).
- By using a scanner, check if other fault codes are set. Note that the P2110 code is informative and warns the driver that the PCM started the fault test mode. Diagnose these codes.
- If after performing a system scan there are no problems and P2110 and it is still displayed, check the Throttle Actuator Control along with its wires and connectors. Repair if necessary.
