P2563 - TURBOCHARGER BOOST CONTROL POSITION
Description of DTC code P2563
The Turbo Compressor Control Position Sensor (TBCPS) is in charge of converting the turbo compressor pressures into electrical signals sent to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This information is used to control the proper amount of fuel delivery, ignition timing strategy, and the pulses provided to the engine by the turbocharger.
When the PCM detects signals in the Turbo Boost Control Position Sensor electrical circuit that are outside the levels set by the manufacturer, the DTC P2563 OBDII code will be stored. It is important to note that this type of code is rarely triggered by turbocharger failures.
Symptoms of fault code P2563
- Check Engine service light illumination.
- Loss of engine power.
- High fuel consumption.
- Problems when accelerating the vehicle.
Causes of OBD2 P2563
Reasons for setting the P2563 OBD2 fault code:
- The turbo compressor control position sensor connectors may be defective.
- The TBCPS control circuit may be open or shorted to the ground.
- Possibly, the turbo compressor is clogged by excessive soot.
- The Turbo Boost Control Position Sensor may be damaged.
Possible solutions of the DTC code P2563
To troubleshoot the P2563 OBDII diagnostic code, follow these steps:
- Consult the Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) to find useful information regarding the code.
- Verify that the cable harness and connectors are correctly connected and in good condition. If any defects are observed in these components, make the required repairs.
- Use a DVOM (Digital Volt-Ohm Meter) and make resistance tests on the turbocharger control position sensor. If the reading obtained differs from the data provided by the manufacturer, take the necessary measures.
- Check that the Turbo Boost Control Position Sensor is free of soot or any other element that alters its operation. If there are such agents that alter its functions, make the necessary maintenance.
