P2217 - NOX SENSOR CIRC INTERM INPUT BANK2
Description of DTC code P2217
The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors every one of the various sensors with which the vehicle is equipped to keep the engine efficient and functional. Also, it constantly monitors emissions and ensures that the least amount of hydrocarbons are expelled into the atmosphere.
The ECM uses Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) Sensors to monitor the levels of nitrogen oxide found in the exhaust and to know which hydrocarbons are being expelled. The DTC P2217 OBDII code setting indicates that the Nox Sensor circuit voltage is not within the range determined by the manufacturer.
Symptoms of fault code P2217
- The Check Engine light is illuminated.
- Hydrocarbon emissions are increasing.
- Lower fuel efficiency.
- An excessive amount of smoke is expelled by the exhaust.
Causes of OBD2 P2217
The reasons for storing the problem code P2217 OBD2 are
- Damage to the Catalytic Converter (TWC)
- Perhaps the Nox Sensor is in bad condition.
- System-related cables or connectors may be damaged.
Possible solutions of the DTC code P2217
The respective steps to follow for the resolution of the faults related to the diagnostic code P2217 OBDII are the following:
- Check the exhaust system for leaks. If there are any such leaks, make the necessary repairs.
- Check the Nox Sensor along with its cables and connectors. Check that the sensor is not damaged and that the electrical components are in optimal operating conditions. Repair or replace as necessary.
- Clean the Nitrogen Oxide Sensor, be very careful not to damage the sensor when performing this aspect of the diagnosis.
