Description of DTC code P1181
Fuel pressure monitoring is used for the purpose of finding certain deficiencies within the high-pressure system. The ECM (Engine Control Module) is responsible for determining the rail pressure, depending on the engine operating conditions. It controls the fuel pressure regulator, which is installed at the rear end of the accumulator, and this action ensures that the rail pressure is within the proper levels.
The fuel line pressure, which includes the pumps and injectors, is continuously regulated and monitored during engine operation. If this pressure is excessive, the regulator opens and a portion of the fuel is sent back from the rail to the fuel tank through a collector line. In conditions where the rail pressure is excessively low, the fuel pressure regulator closes.
P1181 OBD2 diagnostic code is a brand-specific code and relates to a fault within the fuel pressure system. It is stored on Hyundai vehicles because the ECM during driving cycles has read a fuel line pressure that is outside acceptable parameters.
