Fuel injectors are devices that introduce the appropriate amount of air/fuel mixture into the cylinders. They allow the engine to achieve good ignition and power performance.

In most cases, the injectors are controlled by the Engine Control Module (ECM), which makes comparisons between the power output of each cylinder and the crankshaft speed.

The diagnostic code P0263 OBDII will be set if the ECM detects power irregularities in cylinder 1, which differ from the values stored and specified by the manufacturer.

Symptoms of fault code P0263

  • Check Engine light ON.
  • Problems when starting the engine.
  • Low engine performance.
  • Fuel consumption is not appropriate.

  • Verify that the injector connector is properly connected. If you find any misalignment, adjust it.
  • Use a voltmeter and test the signal wire in the injector circuit. If the reading obtained reflects there is a lack of current, it is due to an open circuit. Make the appropriate repair.
  • Consult the vehicle's information source for cylinder checks. If the cylinder does not meet the manufacturer's requirements, replace it.
