Description of DTC code C1905

Vehicle handling is determined by factors such as road conditions, weight, speed, among others. All of them tend to vary constantly, that is why the ride control is implemented. A key role in this system is played by the car’s suspension, which must have its components in good condition to ensure proper driving.

However, many of the suspension components have changed over time. This fact does not affect the system’s objectives. These objectives are to provide steering balance and improve conditions for greater comfort for the vehicle’s occupants.

When the C1905 OBDII diagnostic code C1905 is set, it is because a fault is found in the ride control. For Mercury, Ford, and Lincoln manufacturers. This code means that the left rear shock actuator has malfunctioned.

  • Check Engine light ON.
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning light ON.

  • Check the left rear shock actuator for damage. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations. If it is faulty, replace it.
