B1615 SICION, LEXUS, TOYOTA: FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LEFT MALFUNCTION
Description of DTC code B1615
The Front Airbag Sensor Left circuit includes the diagnostic circuit and the Front Deceleration Sensor. When the Center Airbag Sensor assembly receives signals from the Front Deceleration Sensor, it is able to determine whether SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) activation is required or not.
On Lexus, Toyota, and Scion vehicles, the DTC B1615 OBD2 is set when a malfunction is detected by the Left Front Airbag Sensor.
Symptoms of fault code B1615
- Check Engine lamp ON.
- Airbag warning light ON.
Causes of OBD2 B1615
The B1615 OBDII diagnostic code B1615 is set because of the following reasons:
- Left front airbag sensor circuit wires may be damaged.
- Front Airbag Sensor Left electrical connections may be faulty.
- The left front airbag sensor may be in poor condition.
- Possibly the central airbag sensor assembly is in bad condition.
Possible solutions of the DTC code B1615
To troubleshoot the OBD2 fault code B1615, try this:
- See Technical Service Bulletins.
- Inspect the wiring related to the Left Front Airbag Sensor Check these components for damage caused by burns or wear. Repair or replace if one of these conditions is detected.
- Perform electrical tests on the Front Airbag Sensor Left circuit to check for poor connections or voltages. If one of these situations is found, check for high levels of corrosion or damaged connector pins. Make the appropriate corrections.
- Check the condition of the left front airbag sensor, considering the diagnostic guidelines recommended in the service manual. If you determine that this sensor is damaged, consider replacing it.
