P2055 - REDUCTANT INJECTION VALVE CIRCUIT HIGH BANK 1 UNIT 2

P2055

Description of DTC code P2055

The Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system injects Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) into the exhaust, NOx trap, and Catalytic Converter (TWC). To do this, it uses the injection reduction valve.

Due to the injection of Diesel Combustion Gas Fluid, a higher temperature of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is obtained, thus having an optimal performance of itself. In addition, there is a reduction of exhaust to the atmosphere.

The storage of the P2055 OBDII diagnostic code is due to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects an excess voltage in the control circuit of the bank 1 reducer injection valve and the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SRC) system number 2.

Symptoms of fault code P2055

  • Check Engine light ON.
  • Fuel efficiency is reduced.
  • An excessive amount of black smoke expelled from the exhaust system
  • Stored other codes related to the Selective Catalytic Reduction System (SRC).

Causes of OBD2 P2055

Reasons to set the P2055 OBD2 error code:

  • The injection reducing valve may be faulty.
  • The throttle valve control circuit may be shorted or open.
  • Incorrect Diesel Exhaust Fluid
  • Perhaps the Selective Catalytic Reduction System controller is defective.

Possible solutions of the DTC code P2055

To troubleshoot problems associated with DTC P2055 OBDII, try this:

  • Check if there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that applies to your vehicle model. The information contained in it will be very helpful in your diagnosis.
  • Check the cables and connectors related to the gear heater system. Any components found to be defective should be repaired or replaced.
  • Use a DVOM to check the SCR system power supply. If there is no battery voltage present or there are deficiencies in the ground circuit, a scanner should be used to activate the injector reducer valve and test the output circuit. Insufficient voltage is an indication that the controller is defective. You must replace it.
  • In case the output circuit voltage is within the programmed range, check the correct operation of the gearbox injection solenoid valve. Replace the valve if necessary.
